Question: who’s your dream customer?
Many business owners just respond with an answer similar to:
‘Anyone with a beating heart and money to hand me’.
I’m all for inclusivity, but…
There’s a couple problems with that:
It doesn’t narrow things much.
And it’s only going to work if you have an unlimited marketing budget.
To reach everyone that fits that description we will only need a couple hundred million dollars for our marketing campaign.
But what if you’ve got a marketing budget that’s less than the GDP of a small African country?
Well then..
This blog is for you!
Carpet Bomb Marketing Doesn’t Work. Here’s Why:
Growing up, we all saw mass marketing all the time. Mcdonalds, Coca Cola, Cadburys . These companies are everywhere, it seems hard to picture a world without them.
Then we started our company… and very quickly we realised that we lack the means to do our marketing like Mcdonalds. We just don’t have the kind of money needed to saturate the market with our message.
Carpet bombing your slogan or your logo never works unless you’re a multi-million dollar company. It’s also not the method that any of these big brands took when they started out.
In truth, I'd bet that every big company you know actually started out using the same proven method:
Called an RSO. They crafted a Rock Solid Offer. This offer spoke directly to the people they identified as perfect customers for their company. Their ideal clients.
Marketing effectively relies on that concept alone. Can you get your RSO in front of your people?
Marketing Explosively With Your RSO
Recently I saw a documentary about a thing called ‘dynamite fishing’. A fishing tribe (In the Philippines I believe) realised that their life was a whole lot easier if they just threw a stick of dynamite into the sea.
Dynamite explodes, the blast either kills or stuns the fish, then they just scoop them up. Forget fishing lines or bait, there's no need.
This is what an RSO will do for you. Not only will your dream clients be magnetically pulled to your message, if your offer is truly solid you’ll also attract many of the people that are just thinking about it, considering it, playing with the idea. So stop casting your lines and simply scoop up ALL the fish.
But how do you put an RSO together? I'll explain in the next post.

P.S. I'm happy to let you know exactly how I would implement an RSO for your business, just get in touch. Fill out the form HERE and I will be in touch to see if we’re a good match.
